Lower Elementary Academy (Grades 2-4)

This is a one-day per week, 4.5-hour drop-off program for students that runs from 9:30 am – 2:00 pm. The parent is NOT required to stay on campus during this time.  All teachers have had a background check completed. We cover literature, art, history, and science with the students. They eat a home-packed nut-free lunch and have lots of outside recess time. We run this program on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays. You choose the day that works best for you. Students are dropped off in our kiss-and-ride line and picked up at the end of the day in the same manner. Caregivers never need to leave their car!

  • Literature
        • Welcome to Adventures in Reading, a dynamic book club tailored for young explorers in grades 2-4!  The anticipated book titles for the upcoming year will be revealed in early August. Your child is asked to read around 20-25 pages weekly throughout the year. The reading level of the text is geared towards third-grade ability, and audiobook options are available for almost all selections. Lower academy students are often asked to write a sentence or two and draw as a group during this class.
        • Books to be selected over the summer
  • Science – Environmental Science
      • Embark on a journey into the fascinating world of environmental science! In this engaging and hands-on course, students will explore key environmental topics such as fossil fuels, air pollution, climate change, the greenhouse effect, food chains, pollination, the atmosphere, waste management, and civic responsibility. Through fun experiments, outdoor observations, and interactive activities, students will gain a deeper understanding of how our planet works and what we can do to help protect it.
  • Art – Hands-on Art
      • Another year of art exploration is at hand – more artists, more techniques, more art mediums.  From working through drawing and painting to sculpting with clay and exploring mixed media, budding artists will unleash their creativity through a kaleidoscope of colors, shapes, and textures in this journey through the wonders of art.
  • History
      • First this fall, prepare for an expedition into the world of Ancient Civilizations! In this class, we’ll explore the complexities and lasting impact of several key ancient societies. We will learn about how they lived and worked, and understand the interconnectedness of these ancient societies and their lasting influence on law, government, philosophy, art, architecture, and more of our modern world.
      • Next, get ready for an eye-opening exploration into the diverse and complex world of the Indigenous Peoples of America! We will learn about the rich histories, vibrant cultures, and ongoing resilience of the original inhabitants of this land. We’ll embark on a journey across different geographical regions, uncovering the unique ways of life of various Indigenous nations.
