Junior Academy (Grades K-2)

This is a one-day per week, 4.5-hour drop-off program for students that runs from 9:30 am – 2:00 pm. The parent is NOT required to stay on campus during this time.  All teachers have had a background check completed. We cover literature, art, history, and science with the students. They eat a home-packed nut-free lunch and have lots of outside recess time. We run this program on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays. You choose the day that works best for you. Students are dropped off in our kiss-and-ride line and picked up at the end of the day in the same manner. Caregivers never need to leave their car!

• Literature
  • Welcome to the magical world of Storytime Explorers, where young adventurers in grades K-2 embark on literary adventures filled with joy and wonder! Brimming with laughter, learning, and boundless imagination. With no homework, we focus on cultivating a love for reading and learning that will last a lifetime. 
    
• Science – Intro to Zoology and the World Around Us
  • This year we will explore zoology and the world around us. We will delve into the forest floor, animal homes, types of zoologists, animals and their group names, animal adaptations, seasonal changes, food chains and food webs, animal habitats, animal communications, endangered animals, animal tracks and behaviors, and animal senses. We will also study human communities to include the impact humans have on wildlife and natural habitats. We will even do some engineering challenges and design our own communities! We will finish the year with community helpers exploring the role, contributions, and tools each uses.
• Junior Art
  • Our junior art class is designed to spark creativity and develop artistic skills. This year, we will learn to use a wide variety of art materials including scissors and crayons, tempera paint, watercolors, clay, foam clay, recycled and natural materials. We will build creativity and artistic skills through drawing, painting, pottery, and other crafts! Let’s create together!

• • First this fall, prepare for an expedition into the world of Ancient Civilizations! In this class, we’ll explore the complexities and lasting impact of several key ancient societies. We will learn about how they lived and worked, and understand the interconnectedness of these ancient societies and their lasting influence on law, government, philosophy, art, architecture, and more of our modern world. 

• • Next, get ready for an eye-opening exploration into the diverse and complex world of the Indigenous Peoples of America! We will learn about the rich histories, vibrant cultures, and ongoing resilience of the original inhabitants of this land. We’ll embark on a journey across different geographical regions, uncovering the unique ways of life of various Indigenous nations.

Course Length: 4.5-hour class once per week/ 12 weeks / 54 hours/ semester

• 2- Month Payment Plan – 10% deposit at registration with the remainder split over 2 payments due on 1 Sept and 1 Oct 25.
